PROFESSIONS AND CLOTHING

At Mtayleb, on 3 October, 4 young man (Pio, Steven, Wissam and Roger) started their noviciate. The same day, 6 young men decided to follow in the footsteps of Saint Francis, in the Capuchin Order. The next day, Brother Iyad Lamar, after a novitiate year, did his Simple Profession, then two month later he joined his companions in Italy (Cremona). The same day, the Brothers Joseph, Georges and Fady renewed their simple vows.

JUBILEE

Brother Augustin Mardini celebrated the golden jubilee of his Sacerdotal Ordination, in the presence of the brothers of the Vice-Province, on 29 June 2003, at Badaro.

MISSION IN SOUTH LEBANON

The Post-novices and the Postulants went on Mission, from 2 to 10 August 2003, in the region of Jezzine. The theme chosen was: Do you love me? Like Francis, they were in contact with people from all ages and social backgrounds. At Roum, since the young people didn’t come to the meetings, the Brothers decided to join them in the public piazza. It was there that the young people decided to receive the Sacrament of Penitence, the first time after many years.

RETREAT

The Capuchin Friars did their annual retreat from 1 to 5 September 2003 at Mtayleb. The theme was: the Admonitions of Saint Francis.

MISSION IN SYRIA

The Post-novices went to Soueida, Syria, for to weeks, from 20 to 27 July 2003, for a missionary experience, according to the spirit of Francis of Assisi. The Mission was concluded by a party for all the villages. The number of the young who attended the party was more than 300! This missionary experience was, first of all, a real experience of Fraternity!

FEAST OF SAINT PIO

The Capuchins Friars celebrated the feast of Saint Pio, at Mtayleb, in a special way: on 21 September 2003, a solemn Mass, presided by the Vice-Provincial, and on 22 September, a moment of prayer animated by the Brothers, Padre Pio’s prayer group, the SFO and the chorus of Saint Louis.
