WHO ARE WE?

We are a Reform in the Franciscan Order. We arrived in the East in 1625. Like Francis, we discover every day new brothers and sisters to love and respect. Each brother that joins us is God’s gift. Therefore, what matters in our life, isn’t what we do as activities, but that we become gradually brothers.

THE LIFE PROJECT OF THE CAPUCHINS

Today, we consider, as an essential part of our life, the following characteristics:

1. A fraternity of lesser brothers at the service of the world.
2. A fraternity of contemplative life.
3. A poor and austere fraternity.
4. A fraternity inserted among the poor.
5. A fraternity concerned about justice, peace and integrity of creation.
6. A warm fraternity.

In synthesis: An evangelical fraternity.

"And after the Lord gave me brothers, no one showed me what I ought to do, but the Most High Himself revealed to me that I ought to live according to the form of the Holy Gospel" (Saint Francis).

An evangelical fraternity:

"The Lord gave me brothers".

OUR PRAYER LIFE

Saint Francis loved to go in solitude to quiet places, away from the noise. There he stayed for hours in prayer, thanking God for everything that lives and breathes: " My God and my all ! ". His contemporaries said of him that he didn’t only pray, but he was prayer became man.

" My God and my All ! "

WE ARE BROTHERS

"Let no one be called prior, but let all be called indistinctly lesser brothers. And let one wash the feet of the other" (Saint Francis).

The first friars were, as today, from different social backgrounds: they formed a fraternity where society seemed to be reconciled. Our life as brothers reveals to us our vulnerability.

It is a rigorous spiritual school and could be a reference for men and women who are struggling with their personal interests and their projects of power.

Our fraternal life requires an unconditional acceptance of the other, as Saint Francis exhorts us: "if a mother nourishes and loves her own son according to the flesh, how much more diligently should he love and nourish his own spiritual brother?"

"And, wherever the friars are and find themselves, let them mutually show themselves to be among their family members.

And let them without fear manifest to one another their own need
".
